Bpost’s first ecological distribution center
Bpost is Belgium’s leading postal operator and a parcel and e-commerce logistics provider in the Benelux, North America and Asia. In February 2019 they inaugurated their first ecological distribution center in Ghlin, Mons. A part of the fleet, used for the distribution of letters and packages, consists of 20 complete electric vehicles. The company’s ambition is to reduce its CO2 emissions by 2030 by at least 20% and further expand its electric car fleet.
Bpost and Powerdale started working together to find a solution so their 20 electric vehicles could all charge during the night . They decided to install 10 Nexxtender charging poles instead of 20 because because impossible to charge all the electric vehicles at once due to the limited available power at the site.
Although there are only 10 charging poles installed, all the electric vans needed to be ready in the morning for the mail distribution.
With NexxtGEM the vehicles can charge during the night without having to modify the existing electrical installation. This smart charging solution divides the maximum available power by the number of vehicles without touching the building’s energy needs.
